12B10 Combat Engineer MOS-T

Purpose:  To provide reclassification training for military personnel with prior military experience so that they may obtain the skills necessary to perform as a Combat Engineer.

Course Scope:  The 12B10 (R) POI encompasses all skill level 1 critical tasks selected for resident training as listed in STP 5-12B1-SM, providing technical training in basic demolitions, wire obstacles, explosive hazards, fixed bridging, and urban operations. 

 

B30 Combat Engineer ALC

Purpose: The 12B30 Combat Engineer Advanced Leaders Course provides 12B Noncommissioned Officers with the technical and tactical skills required to successfully serve as Combat Engineer Squad Leaders. The course also enhances the student's ability to lead, train, and direct subordinates in all aspects of Combat Engineering.

Phase Scope: Students will demonstrate proficiency in demolitions, explosive hazards, combat construction, combat tactics, the employment of combat engineer equipment and Leader Core Competencies (LCC).

Total Academic Hours: 110.0

 

 

12B40 Combat Engineer SLC

Purpose: Train MOS 12B/C Platoon Sergeants to train, supervise and manage engineer platoons in operations involving mobility, countermobility, and survivability on the modern battlefield.

Phase Scope: Students will demonstrate proficiency in Leader Core Competencies (LCC), Engineering, Explosive Hazards, Military Load Class, Fixed Bridging, Float Bridging, Tactics, and Digital Battle Command Systems.

Total Academic Hours: 148.0

 

 

12C10 Bridge Crewmember MOS-T

Purpose:  To provide reclassification training for military personnel so that they may obtain the skills necessary to perform as a Bridge Crewmember.

Course Scope:  The 12C11 Bridge Crewmember course encompasses all skill level 1 critical tasks selected for resident training as listed in STP 5-12C1-SM , provides technical training in Fixed Bridging and Float Bridging.

 

 

12C30 Bridge Crewmember ALC

Purpose: The 12C30 Bridge Crewmember Advanced Leaders Course provides 12C Noncommissioned Officers with the technical and tactical skills required to successfully serve as Bridge Crewmember Section Sergeants. The course also enhances the student's ability to lead, train, and direct subordinates in all aspects of Multi Role Bridge Company operations.

Phase Scope: Students will demonstrate proficiency in Military History, demolitions, reconnaissance, fixed bridging, float bridging, explosive hazards, combat tactics, and the employment of Bridge Crewmember equipment.

Total Academic Hours: 140.7

 

12N10 Horizontal Construction Engineer MOS-T

Purpose:  The purpose of the MOS 12N10 Horizontal Construction Engineer Course is to provide skill level 1 Soldiers with the skills and knowledge required to effectively operate construction equipment and assist in engineering missions.

Course Scope:  The Soldier receives MOS-specific training:

Phase 1: consists of 100.0 hours of training that includes: Safety, Environmental Stewardship, The Army Maintenance Management System, Basic Soils, Grade Stakes, Dump Truck Operations, Scoop Loader Operations and Hydraulic Excavator Operations.

Phase 2: consists of 120.0 hours of MOS specific training that includes: Motorized Grader Operations, Crawler Tractor Operations, Motorized Scraper Operations and Backhoe Loader Operations.

 

12N30 Horizontal Construction Engineer ALC

Purpose: To provide Senior Construction Engineering Supervisors with the skills and knowledge necessary to be technically and tactically proficient in the competencies required in this MOS and skill level to support Engineer missions.

12K10 Plumber MOS-T

Purpose:  To provide reclassification training for Army personnel. This training will provide the basic knowledge required for a plumber.

Course Scope:  10.0  hours of MOS 12K Course Introduction which introduces the facility, course procedures, and criteria for successful course completion; course safety; environmental stewardship; and basic mathematics.

206.0 hours of MOS specific training in identifying plumbing materials, maintaining plumbing tools, preparing a plumbing materials takeoff list, installing a cast iron sewer line,  installing a waste system,  installing a water system, installing a lavatory, installing a water closet with tank, installing urinals, installing an exposed pipe shower system, installing a drinking fountain, winterizing a water supply system, maintaining internal water distribution systems, clearing water system stoppages, and preventing backflows.

 

12R10 Interior Electrician MOS-T

Purpose:  The TATS  Electrician Course MOS 12R10 provides skill level 1 soldiers with the skills and knowledge required to perform installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of interior electrical systems, and assist in combat engineering missions.

Course Scope:  The student receives Common Engineer and MOS-specific training:

0.5 hours of MOS 12R10 Course Introduction this introduces the facility, course procedures, and criteria for successful course completion; course safety; environmental stewardship; basic mathematics; and fundamentals of power.

138.2 hours of MOS specific training in rescuing an electrical shock victim; performing generator operations; installing service entrance systems, installing cable and conduit systems, installing electrical devices, and preparing electrical materials takeoff lists.

 

12T10 Technical Engineer MOS-T

12T10 Ph 2

Purpose: The purpose of this Technical Engineer Course is to provide Soldiers reclassifying into the 12T MOS with skill level 1 training to perform those critical tasks required to become a Technical Engineer Specialist and support construction missions on the modern battlefield.

Phase Scope: The Technical Engineer Specialist MOS-T course incorporates the new Army Learning Model supporting blended learning. In this resident phase, Soldiers will use the knowledge gained through distributed learning in the application of construction surveying tasks.

Course Outcomes: At the conclusion of this phase, Soldiers will be able to –

1) Establish Vertical Control.

2) Establish Project Control.

3) Perform a Preliminary Site Survey.

4) Produce Civil Engineer Drawings.

5) Perform Layout of a Horizontal Construction Project.

6) Perform Building and Utility Layout.

12T10 Ph 3

Purpose: The purpose of this Technical Engineer Course is to provide Soldiers reclassifying into the 12T MOS with skill level 1 training to perform those critical tasks required to become a Technical Engineer Specialist and support construction missions on the modern battlefield.

Phase Scope: The Technical Engineer Specialist MOS-T course incorporates the new Army Learning Model supporting blended learning. In this resident phase, Soldiers will use the knowledge gained through distributed learning in the application of Geodetic surveying tasks.

Course Outcomes: At the conclusion of this phase, Soldiers will be able to -

1) Install Permanent Survey Control Stations.

2) Airfield Survey Operations.

3) Airfield and Heliport Survey.

12T10 Ph 4

Purpose: The purpose of this Technical Engineer Course is to provide Soldiers reclassifying into the 12T MOS with skill level 1training to perform those critical tasks required to become a Technical Engineer Specialist and support construction missions on the modern battlefield.

Phase Scope: The Technical Engineer Specialist MOS-T course incorporates the new Army Learning Model supporting blended learning. In this resident phase, Soldiers will use the knowledge gained through distributed learning in the application of drafting tasks.

Course Outcomes: At the conclusion of this phase, Soldiers will be able to -

1) Prepare Preliminary Drafting Sketches.

2) Prepare Floor Plan and Foundation Plan Drawings.

3) Prepare a Utility Plan Drawing.

4) Produce Architectural Drawings.

12T10 Ph 5

Purpose: The purpose of this Technical Engineer Course is to provide Soldiers reclassifying into the 12T MOS with skill level 1 training to perform those critical tasks required to become a Technical Engineer Specialist and support construction missions on the modern battlefield.

Phase Scope: The Technical Engineer Specialist MOS-T course incorporates the new Army Learning Model supporting blended learning. In this resident phase, Soldiers will use the knowledge gained through distributed learning in the application of materials testing tasks.

Course Outcomes: At the conclusion of this phase, Soldiers will be able to –

1) Obtain Concrete Specimens.

2) Determine the Quality of Hardened Concrete.

3) Identify Basic Soils Properties.

4) Classify Soil using the Unified Soils Classification System (USCS).

5) Determine Laboratory Compaction Characteristics of a Soil.

6) Determine the In-Place Density of a Soil.

7) Determine the California Bearing Ratio of a Soil.

12T30 Technical Engineer ALC

12T30 Ph 1

Purpose: To provide Technical Engineer Supervisors with the skills and knowledge necessary to be technically and tactically proficient in the competencies required, in this MOS and skill level to support Engineer missions.

Phase Scope: Technical Engineer Supervisor ALC incorporates the new Army Learning Concept (ALC) for Training and Education 2020-2040 supporting facilitator led and small group instruction. It integrates learning content by engaging the student experiences and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) into problem solving events verified through criterion based tests.

At the conclusion of the Technical module, NCOs will be able to:

1) Geology Process

2) Conduct technical construction analysis involving reconnaissance, construction use of rock, maintaining project information and preliminary construction site analysis.

3) Produce construction site designs from the Army Facilities Component System (AFCS) data base and review drawing and sketches.

4) Perform construction management involving materials takeoff lists, work schedules, developing a QA-QC program and determining technical project support requirements.

5) Perform soils supervisory duties in the determination of design California Bearing Ratio (CBR), designing a concrete mix, determining soils stabilization and writing a soils technical report.

Total Academic Hours: 124.6

 

 

12T30 Ph2

Purpose: To provide Technical Engineer Supervisors with the skills and knowledge necessary to be technically and tactically proficient in the competencies required in this MOS and skill level to support Engineer missions.

Phase Scope: Technical Engineer Supervisor ALC incorporates the new Army Learning Concept (ALC) for Training and Education 2020-2040 supporting facilitator led and small group instruction. It integrates learning content by engaging the student experiences and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) into problem solving events verified through criterion based tests.

At the conclusion of the Advanced Leader Course, Common Core Competencies (ALC-CCC) module, NCOs will be able: Prepares the Sergeant for duties as a Staff Sergeant using the Leadership Requirements Model (LRM) through a holistic approach and develop skills in written and oral communications.

This module will challenge learners to think critically, generate creative ideas, and learn to solve complex problems. Key lessons include discussing the Army leader, building trust and discipline in teams, writing a persuasive essay, preparing, and delivering a military briefing, and using the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP). As a result, learners will be able to train, lead, and conduct operations at the squad level.

The module contains 55 hours of academic instruction covering the following competency areas: Readiness, Leadership, Training Management, Operations, Communications, and Program Management.

At the conclusion of the technical module, NCOs will be able to-

1) Determine a concrete and asphalt mix design to meet project specifications.

2) Prepare a roadway design that includes proposed routes, horizontal curves, vertical curves and grade line requirements.

3) Perform quality control checks of survey data to ensure proper procedures were followed and project specifications have been met.

4) Supervise a FAA airfield survey, verify survey data and compile reports on the survey.

12T40 Technical Engineer SLC

Purpose: To provide Senior Technical Engineer Supervisors with the skills and knowledge necessary to be technically and tactically proficient in the competencies required, in this MOS and skill level to support Engineer missions.

Phase Scope: Technical Engineer Supervisor SLC incorporates the new Army Learning Concept (ALC) for Training and Education 2020-2040 supporting facilitator led and small group instruction. It integrates learning content by engaging the student experiences and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) into problem solving events verified through criterion based tests.

At the conclusion of the Technical module, NCOs will be able to:

1) Project Administration.

2) Quality Control (QC)/Quality Assurance (QA).

3) Road and Airfield Pavement Design.

12T40 Ph 2

Purpose: To provide Senior Technical Engineer Supervisors with the skills and knowledge necessary to be technically and tactically proficient in the competencies required in this MOS and skill level to support Engineer missions.

Phase Scope: Technical Engineer Supervisor SLC incorporates the new Army Learning Concept (ALC) for Training and Education 2020-2040 supporting facilitator led and small group instruction. It integrates learning content by engaging the student experiences and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) into problem solving events verified through criterion based tests.

At the conclusion of the Senior Leader Course-Common Core Competencies (SLC-CCC) module, NCOs will be able to apply the following: Prepares the Staff Sergeant for duties as a Sergeant First Class. Using the Leadership Requirements Model (LRM), learners will collaborate and exchange ideas on innovative approaches to leadership and training. Learners will examine management techniques, analyze Mission Command systems, construct an analytical essay, create platoon training and leader development plans, and learn basic negotiation principles. As a result, learners will gain an understanding of the significance of becoming a senior noncommissioned officer and the responsibilities inherent in that role.

The module contains 55 hours of academic instruction covering the following competency areas: Readiness, Leadership, Training Management, Operations, Communications, and Program Management.

At the conclusion of the technical module, NCOs will be able to:

1) Obstruction Chart Design.

2) Design Specification Proposals.

12W10 Carpentry and Masonry Specialist MOS-T

Purpose:  The resident MOS 12W10 Carpentry and Masonry Course provides skill level 1 soldiers with the skills and knowledge required to perform light and heavy carpentry, masonry, and structural steel duties, and assist in combat engineering missions.

Course Scope:

Phase 1:  DL the students receive 23.0 hours of self - paced distance learning consisting of; B02-Construction Mathematics which covers; performing calculations, solve problems for whole numbers, fractions, decimals, areas, volumes, and board feet measurements. B03-Interpret Prints and Drawings which covers; drawing types, lines, parts material conventions, and architectural symbols. B05-Common Builder's Tools and Their Uses which covers; Identify common builder's tools, their uses, and maintenance procedures.

Phase 2:  The student receives an Introduction to the Course for 3.0 hrs; Fabrication of Joints and Splices for 13.0 hrs; Constructing a Concrete Wall Form and Batter Boards for 20.0 hrs; Constructing Column and Overhead Forms for 10.0 hrs; Constructing a Concrete Slab Form for 6.0 hrs; Placing Concrete for 12.0 hrs; and Constructing a Masonry Wal for 42.0 hrs for a combined total of 109.0 hrs of Instruction.

Phase 3:  The student receives an introduction to Framing and Roofing systems which covers: Constructing a Floor System for 16 hrs; Constructing a Wall system for 19 hrs; Constructing Stairs for 8 hrs; Constructing a Roof System for 20 hrs; Applying Roof covering for 11 hrs; Installing Doors and Windows for 13 hrs; and Installing Exterior Finish for 8 hrs for a total training time of 95 hrs. Preparation of Carpentry Materials Take-Off List for 3.0 hrs.

 

Officer Candidate School Pre Phase

Course Scope:

Presents introduction to selected personnel in basic military subjects to prepare them for enrollment in OCS phase I training. See following notes.

NOTE 1:  This is an optional course conducted at state discretion to assist potential officer candidates in determining whether to enroll in the state OCS program.

NOTE 2:  If state OCS POI subjects are presented for credit during this course and are not presented for credit in follow-on phases, all officer candidates being enrolled in the follow-on OCS phase I class must be enrolled in and successfully complete this course.

 

Officer Candidate School Phase 2

Purpose:      

A.  To develop selected personnel to be Second Lieutenants in the Army of the United States, the Army Reserve and the National Guard and to prepare them for the Basic Army Officer Leadership Course Training, Branch specific (BOLC-B).

B.  To produce adaptive officer with increased maturity, confidence and competence that share a common bond with their combined arms peers and are prepared to lead small units upon arrival at their first assignments.

C.  There are 7 Desired Outcomes for the Officer Candidate.  These Outcomes are skills, knowledge, and attributes every Soldier possesses at the completion of OCS.

     1)  VALUE AND ETHICS OUTCOMES:  Junior Officer who knows and understands Army values and begins to demonstrate them.

     2)  LEADERSHIP OUTCOMES:  Junior officer demonstrates knowledge of core leadership attributes and competencies and applies fundamentals of leadership at team and squad levels.

     3)  OFFICERSHIP OUTCOMES:  Understands and embrace the concept of officer ship.

     4)  PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OUTCOMES:  Understand responsibilities of an officer for self development (physical, mental, spiritual and emotional) outside the institutional and organizational domains.

     5)  TECHNICAL COMPETENCE OUTCOMES:  Possesses fundamental knowledge and understanding of basic military skills and Army management systems required of a Junior Officer.

     6)  TACTICAL COMPETENCE OUTCOMES:  Possess basic military skills and demonstrates knowledge of the orders process and troop leading procedures while executing small unit tactics.

     7)  TACTICAL COMPETENCE OUTCOMES:  Introduced to Warrior Task and Battle Drills and fundamentals of Army operations.

Course Scope:        

Introduction to Army Doctrine focusing on Leadership, Ethics, Squad and Platoon level tactics.  The context and organization of the light Infantry Squad and Platoon provide the framework for learning how to integrate individual and collective tasks to accomplish assigned mission.  The training culminates with a FLX II utilizing Squad and Platoon STX.
